Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is an advanced, low‑carbon alternative to traditional jet fuel. Produced from renewable feedstocks such as used cooking oil, agricultural residues, and other sustainable sources, SAF can be blended seamlessly with conventional aviation fuel. It delivers the same performance and safety standards while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the aviation lifecycle.

SAF in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive has highlighted the Government’s intent to “develop a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry chain” spanning upstream feedstock collection, production plants and large-scale production to support a target SAF consumption ratio for flights departing from the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) by 2030, alongside construction of a SAF blending facility.
